Isetan 2019 Collaboration: Maison de SAILOR MOON ~ Bienvenue à la chambre de la lune

It’s that time of year again! Sailor Moon will once again have collaborations with various brands at ISETAN. This year the theme is ‘Maison de SAILOR MOON ~ Bienvenue à la chambre de la lune’ (Sailor Moon House ~ Welcome to the Moon Room). This special event will run from March 6 – 18, 2019.

Many popular brands will participate this year including Anna Sui, and for the first time, LeSportsac and Lights Style. In addition to the usual fashion and jewelry merchandise, expect to see furniture and lighting like bed frames and chandeliers this year too!

What do you guys think of the collaboration pieces? So far I’m disappointed, in both the designs and the prices. One of the necklaces is made of brass and tin alloy but the price is $1,000!? Why is costume jewelry so expensive?! I was also really looking forward to seeing the furniture but their designs are just..bland..paired with those prices?! Another piece I was excited about was the Anna Sui Serenity Crystal Tiara. The price isn’t so bad at below $200, but it turns out the whole thing is only 7cm (2.75″)!!!

I’m ok with high price tags since that’s what ISETAN is, but I feel like there should be a reason. I don’t think with what we’ve seen so far the designs or materials justify the costs. However there are more items coming so I hope there will still be pleasant surprises for us! I’m hoping for at least one WOW piece! Unfortunately the remaining items are just as disappointing and the prices are even more ridiculous! $1,000 for a phone case?! I would rather buy an actual phone for that price! And $4,000 for a generic looking “chandelier”?! WHAT EVEN! This is the first ISETAN collaboration I won’t be getting anything from 🙁
