Sailor Moon Engagement Ring from Mamoru-chan
The official merchandise people have finally done the thing! Premium Bandai is releasing the Sailor Moon engagement ring you see Mamoru give to Usagi in the Sailor Moon Stars anime. It comes in two versions, one with silver and white topaz, the other with platinum and diamonds. In both versions, the center stone is a synthetic corundum in pink.
The retail price for the silver version is 28,080 yen. It comes in sizes 7, 9, 11, 13 (Japan sizing).
The retail price for the platinum version is 162,000 yen. The total weight of diamonds is 0.13 ct round brilliant cut. It comes in sizes 7 to 15.
Inside the band for both versions, the words ‘MAMORU TO USAGI’ are engraved. The ring comes in a cute pink heart box that says “Let’s get married, Usa.” The release date is in August 2018. You can preorder them on Premium Bandai (silver | platinum) using a deputy service: step by step guide.
What do you guys think? Will you be getting one? I’m really glad they finally made a replica of Usagi and Mamo’s engagement ring, I know lots of fans have wanted one forever! However I’m a little disappointed in the craftsmanship and materials. Judging purely from their photos, the prongs look thick and blunt. The center stone doesn’t look very heart-shaped and why is it synthetic? I feel like it could be made better at those price points, but maybe they’re just not the best pictures and the real thing will look way better!

Even if one was rich enough to be able to afford spending that kind of money on an otaku collectable, that’s taking fandom a bit too far, I think.

Ahahahaha!! According to the online calculator, it’s 1400 something USD!! Fans gonna have to take out loans for this. Even if I could afford it (dad would kill me), I’d have to think about it really hard. Hope it’s everything people who can afford it have dreamt of!

The silver one is 256 dollars. Of course the platinum one with diamonds is going to be expensive. Most people spend this much money on engagement rings.
