Sailor Moon Crystal S.H. Figuarts Figure
Bandai’s S.H. Figuarts line will be moving onto Sailor Moon Crystal! The first figure is Sailor Moon based on the character design from Season 3, the Death Busters arc. They paid special attention to her hair and eyes to make it as accurate to the anime as possible. The ends of her hair are clear to make it look more natural. They also wanted to express a sense of movement through the hair and skirt shaping. The Cosmic Heart Compact on her chest bow is carefully reproduced in sparkly paint. Just like all the previous S.H. Figuarts figures, this one has jointed limbs so you can pose her anyway you like.
The figure measures 13.5cm tall. It comes with the Spiral Heart Moon Rod, 4 changeable facial expressions, 7 left and right hands and a stand. The retail price is 5,400 yen and it’s scheduled for release in January 2017.

Tamashii is doing a survey for Sailormoon line. Just translate the page to english and you should be able to answer it. One of the survey question regarding future SH Figuart for SM line. Please vote for villains ONLY if we want them to make it.
I am voting for Ayakashi SIsters, Dark KIngdom, Amazon Trio and Amazon Quartet

I want them to release villains like Galaxia, Ayakashi Sisters, Witches 5 and more!!! It’s weird that they ignore all these popular villains… Everybody wants them!!!
Sailor Mademoiselle
Myself, I’m so disappointed that they appear to have dropped the classic super inners… Come on, just 6 more releases would be the bare nessesity…
All the likehood now they will follow up this by SMC inners, no chance they would be releasing 2 lines of same characters at the same time…
And now after this figure releases, if SMC stays true to its disjointed nature, the next season will invent some brand new character designs with little similarity to “Season III”, and make this figure series irrelevant even before it completes. I can just see it happen.
And if after that, they try to reboot the figuart series *again*, with *New* new designs, this time for seasons 4 and 5, but still all the same characters, no way the sales don’t drop, cos how many of the same characters will every one person gonna buy?, so Bandai may just decide it’s enough and stop producing them at all. Which would be awful.
So now I’m in the weird position of praying the SMC does the smart thing and keeps the season 3 designs, for whatever little chance it may give to the classic super inners. To me they are the absolute must, cus Super Moon NEEDS her friends of equal age and height to pose together with, and not be the only one tall and adult among the shortie kids xD
oxaider
Not to mention, we don’t get any Endymion, Shitennou, other Super Sailors (even if they showed a prototype of Super Mercury if i recall right) or Dark Kingdom figures and that’s a shame. I do believe the sales of this Figuarts dedicated to SM are going well. Meh, Bandai.

They keep ignoring the villains!!! Sailor Moon line is among the best-selling ones of Tamashii Nations. They have already released so many Dragon Ball villains, but just Black Lady from Sailor Moon…
Gen
They DO have Evil sailor moon (a.k.a zoisite) Figure! that DOES count as a villain, right?
I-chan
My, she is gorgeous… But I’m still waiting for the classic supers!
Tito
Do you really think they will release those versions on the next months/years?
K
Uuuuug, I hate myself over how much I want this. I already have so many Sailor Moons… but this is awesome.
But I agree some more Villians and secondary characters would be awesome… but I would be lying if I said I wouldn’t buy the whole line if they make one….
Tito
Me too. But I think my collection will be much more valuable – and it will give me much pleasure – to buy villains and secondary characters than another Sailor Moon. Don’t get me wrong, I think this figure is amazing AND it is one of the most perfect and well made figures of Sailor Moon I’ve seen so far. I would be dumb if I didn’t put my hands on her. BUT that doesn’t change the fact that the merchandising is always about the same central characters and despite of the down sells, having villains would give a much more complete collection for all of us.
Sailor Mademoiselle
But then, in the context of this particular fiigurine, which particular villains would both of you want?
If Bandai follows this one with SMC Mercury, Mars, etc, this means they probadly going to cash in on whatever popularity the new series has. So if they ever get to the villains, it will probadly be the “Season III” ones. And only in the event that the seasons 4-5 don’t come up with brand new character designs, which would put the “Season III” figuarts line into an awkward position xD
Tito
That’s a complicated question 🙂 Will they release villains and more interesting/different characters? Aparently that will depend on how well Black Ladys sells go – and I personally don’t have a clue, does anyone know or did Tamashii already said anything about it?
I personally don’t care much if it will be Crystal style or classic style as long as I get my hands on rare, secondary and villain characters. BUT my guess is that they will keep the classic line just like they did with Black Lady. Remember, Luna P ain’t evil in Crystal but she is evil in classic. And they made her evil on the set PLUS they made the badminton racket wich IS a pure mention to the 90s.
But I trully understand the feel of connection and consistency that you would like to have on your SH Figuarts collection. I trully do.
The point for Tamashii is complicated… They want profit and they don’t want to disrespect the collector wishes of having rare characters and they know those figures won’t sell so well as any Sailor Moon they would release. They announced Super Mercury and later Sailor Moon w/ Crystal Star Compact and it seemed they had a bad reception because the differences were so little and many people felt they were getting repetitive. In between they announced Black Lady, a different character and a risk for them because it isn’t a main one. AND they didn’t know what to do next, where to move…. It took them almost a year to release Black Lady! Now they are trying with Crystal style and feel the reception of the fans. It seems much more positive IMO, so my guess is that they will do more Crystal style.
If they want to please everybody, they will release a popular and central character and from time to time, a not-so-popular character. That could include Super Mercury, as well. That way they will please the collectors and the common fans.
The major point is: Black Lady must sell well because she is the key for more villains and the continuation of the line. I don’t think it’s fair for a single character having that importance but Tamashii did say so. If Black Lady doesnt sell well then we will probably have just some Eternal Sailor Moon, maybe Starlights and thats it. No more SH Figuarts…
Sailor Mademoiselle
I guess it doesn’t matter what they release at any particular moment of time as long as they don’t abandon any previous lines they haven’t finished.
What partucular future releases do you think are dependant on the BLack Lady sales?
Because this SMC fig and the Black Lady one are conflicting one another as to what direction should the Figuarts take if both go succesful.
Black Lady success would indicate people want the classic villains. Because yes, the classic Black Lady is different from her SMC variety in more than just the ball and the racket.
Then if the SMC fig is also successfull, that’s because people want something out of a series thats still fresh in the memory as it happened just now. And it would be hillarious if Bandai decided to combine these 2 different directions into 1, and start making the SMC villains, as I doubt it will have many takers. xD
Not sure what you mean by “fan reception” tho. Doesn’t matter what people comment on the internet, there will be praise on 1 place and hate for the same thing on another. The only thing that matters is the sales, which would be somewhat supported by the general idea of publicity, both positive and negative.
So the worst case scenario is Bandai abandons the classic figs copletely and starts making the SMC figuarts instead, based on the success of this one, which in turn wouldn’t be so much in demand because with the release schedule this slow, the follow ups would eventually belong to some obscure series from a few years back.
Which would upgrade the SMC to a series so cursed it even killed the classic figuarts before they even made the Super Chibi.
So the best care scenario I figure is for Figuarts to abandon all idea of consistency, and start making releases from all over the place, and not too slowly, all while hoping the sales don’t drop from making so many barely different versions of the same characters.
Or maybe even start making REAL polls for what people want most. The Petit chara did it, and it worked.
Tito
I just hope they move to villains as well…! Its getting frustrating to have the same old characters and nothing about rare, secondary and villains.
Charles
I’m so glad the line is back and so glad you’re back too!
