Sailor Moon Art Statue Figure from Legend Studio
Here’s an update on the Sailor Moon Art Statue figure from Legend Studio! We first reported about it back in early 2013 and after two years it still hasn’t been released. According to them the release date is now August 2015 (but that could change since it was originally May 2013)! The suggested retail price is HKD$320 (~$41USD). Things are starting to look more finalized now with the following official pictures and specs:
- 20 points of articulations
- 4 faces
- 11 pairs of hands
- 2 foreheads/bangs
- Comes with Luna, Spiral Heart Moon Rod, stand
- Figure measures 14cm tall
- Box measures 22 x 13.2 x 9.5cm

A new collectible action figure series -ArtStatue- based on the original Sailormoon S animation is coming. Today we are excited to present the guardian of the moon – the Sailormoon Collectible Action Figure!
The high quality collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Sailormoon in the animation featuring a newly full-body sculpt with 3D digital sculpting, detailed new Sailormoon’s rod and compact accessories, high quality of outer gradient paint in original style.

This figure looks really weird!! I mean, look at the hair! sailor moon’s hair DOES NOT DO THAT!!! Like it’s sticking out and it just looks….out of place. And the odango covers are facing each other for some strange reason…and the eyes look really off to me. To me, the winking face looks like she’s teasing someone like a young child and NOT her super cute adorable pose that she’s SUPPOSED to do! I will NOT buy that figure! Even the official photos look like some weird BOOTLEG or something! and what’s up with the second fringe! It’s blowing up or something I guess, but who would pose their figure and stick them up on a shelf like THAT! Just sayin’… S.H figuarts does a MUCH better job than this at Sailor Moon figures.

Hmm at first I liked it but that hair really annoys me. Ive never seen another sailor moon with hair that sticks out like that!! The faces are really cute and the boots are actually quite good they way the knee joint is behind them…but I don’t think this is worth the shelve space especially since the Super Sailor Moon Figurat will be better and comes with the same moon rod etc.

I’ve been waiting for this sooo long and it’s really disappointing how…
… it looks like a low quality knockoff product with a bad paint job and loss of detail
… the gradient on the skirt – Some may like it, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s inaccurate – why take the risk? i want my Sailor Moon figure to be true to the original.
… Luna’s face look nothing like her.
… bad the hair looks:
– it lacks overall detail, just like goo sitting on her head.
– odangos look weirdly detached – same problem as the Crystal style, but worse!
– the way her pigtails move horizontally before finally falling down in a weird curve…
But the hair is her first and foremost signature so how can you mess that up??

I have so many mixed feelings about this figure, I don’t know how to say. I’ll just keep reading your coments about this and try to make my mind up.

I think the reason she looks a little uncanny valley is because they seem to have done her eyes the way they looked in Stars in her Eternal form so they don’t match the rest of her. Obviously the pigtails and odango are WAAAAY off, Luna is weird in general, but the selection of pieces is at least nice. There’s joints in the feet which is nice, the flippy fringe for her hair is good and there’s a lot of hands. But the paint and sculpt is really bizarre. Makes me wonder if the delay of the release for this one was a budget thing, which would explain the general shoddy look. Shame.

-Her hair color, looks weird like a traditional pulled candy color

-For the closed eyes face, her cheeks look a bit chubby

I’m always excited for peeps who see the right sailor moon figure for them, but man oh man I do not like this one. Head looks disproportionate to her body, joints aren’t very good, her face isn’t cute, and the hair looks like melted caramel lol… ayyyeeeee its so bad (to me).

Anyway, like everyone else has said, I’m more than happy with my Figuarts. 🙂

This truly looks like a cheap, Chinese knock off, of the S.H. Figarts, and for the same general retail price. I will not be buying this.

I love her faces (especially the eyes), the blowing in the wind-bangs, that she has jointed shoes and the vast number of hands they are including with this figure. Also, she comes with the Spiral Heart Moon Rod.
Now, I am really not a fan of the way the hair is painted. It looks too unnatural, like candy or glass and that effect doesn’t harmonize with the rest of the figure. The way the odango and twin tails connect is just… ungh. The gap is hella strange. Also, Luna looks derpy, like a bootleg. I guess it’s due to the placement of the eyes which are too close to each other.
TBS, I could see myself getting her nevertheless but honestly, I don’t trust Legend Studio anymore :/. I am curious how the final product will look like, not buying her before I have seen user pics.

I love everything about it, except for the hair…it just looks a little odd at the beginning.

Ummm… the prototype looked much better, there’s this weird gap/move on the hair attached to the odango that’s just weird, it should have a natural fall, Sailor Moon never had her hair like that, the Spiral Heart moon Rod looks very pretty, but Luna looks cheap, the paint job and the sculpting just don’t do it for me, it’s nice but not that top quality. It’s more like a garage kit.

The collector in me wants to get it just to have it but if I’m honest with myself, I actually don’t like it very much. The hair is really off-putting, the gradient on the skirt makes it looks like the paint has faded, and the overall paint job on the figure looks pretty shoddy.

To be honest I don’t really like it that much. The paint job and the color look a little off too me. I like the second bangs though, it’s something I haven’t seen done before and I feel like it adds dimension and movement. I also like how the toe of her shoes are jointed. I might get this if they actually make the other figures in the line though.
